FIRST-GRADE WEEKLY HOMEWORK SHEET
April 13 - April 17, 2020
We hope you all had a fantastic spring break, a blessed Easter and all your loved ones are staying healthy. We are excited to continue with the engaging virtual education for your child. NEW MATERIALS FOR YOUR CHILD WILL BE READY TO BE PICKED UP THIS WEEK IN THE FRONT ENTRANCE OF THE SCHOOL WEDNESDAY AT 12 NOON - FRIDAY AT 3 PM. The new material we are preparing will not be used until next week, April 20-24.
Thank you for submitting your child’s work using the Google Classroom Assignments. It has really streamlined all the documented work.
We will be alternating between reading groups and class meetings one week, and individual conferences the next week. This week we are back to our individual conference schedule. Your teacher will send you a reminder of your scheduled time. Page 5 of this homework sheet details the weekly plans through May. The schedule is also posted on Google Classroom.
Beginning NEXT week, April 20, we will start a science unit on plants. You will need approximately one cup of potting soil. The remaining science materials will be included with the materials you pick up at school available Wednesday at 12:00 through Friday at 3:00 PM.
We begin this week working on the Meal Prayer. You will find the prayer on page 4 of this homework sheet.
1st grade standards we will meet this week: Reading/Writing- informational text, narrative writing, and pronouns. Math- classify shapes and find and name two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes based on their attributes. Religion- Easter, liturgical seasons and prayers. Science- how seeds grow.
We suggest you take 10-15 minutes of choice time/recess after each item of work is done. For example your child may work on a puzzle, free draw, go on a walk outside, make an obstacle course in the yard, make up a talent show with family members, build Legos, play with playdough, etc. We discourage screen time in your child’s free time. Even taking Legos to build outside would be a great idea!

We will resume our individual conference schedule this week.
We will alternate weeks with reading groups.
This week we will have ONE class meeting on Tuesday, April 14. Links to join will be posted on Google Classroom Stream. We encourage all students to participate.
TUESDAY - April 14, 2020
ENTRY TASK - Complete Sprint page 8, Lesson 10 B.
1.)Read a total of 30 minutes today. 10 minutes of this can be listening to your parents or sibling read to you!
2.)Write your new Word Wall Words in your Word Wall book. Ask your parents or older sibling for help reading and understanding the words.
3.)Read Garden Good Guys along with your teacher in the video.
4.)Journal entry - watch the video to find out what to write in your journal today!
5.) Read with your teacher on the video Religion Chapter 20, Jesus Is Risen.
6).Join your teacher on the math video. Have your pencil, eraser, crayons, My Shapes book, and Math workbook ready.
7.)Work on Zearn for 20 minutes.
8.)Study your spelling words.
9.) Pray the Meal Prayer with your family before meals.
WEDNESDAY - April 15, 2020
ENTRY TASK: Number of the Day - The number of the day is 15.
1.) Read a total of 30 minutes a day. Some of this can be reading with your teacher on video or listening to your parents read to you!
2.) Join your teacher on page 38 in your big Journeys book to learn about pronouns.
3.) Watch the video to find out what to write in your journal today!
4.) Watch the video to do some math together today on page 5 in your Shapes book and have your Eureka Math workbook ready for the video.
5.) Work for 20 minutes on ZEARN.
6.) Practice spelling and Word Wall Words.
7.) Pray the Meal Prayer with your family before meals.
THURSDAY - April 16, 2020
ENTRY TASK - Complete number handwriting page 12 - the number 6. Follow the arrow starting on the top.
1.) Read a total of 30 minutes a day. 10 minutes of this can be listening to your parents or sibling read to you.

3.) Watch your teacher in the instructional video for what to do in your journal today!
4.)Watch your teacher in the instructional video for what to do on page 6 in your Shapes math book today and have your Eureka Math workbook ready for the video.
5.)Log into Zearn for 20 minutes.
6.) Practice spelling words for the test tomorrow.
7.) Pray the Meal Prayer with your family before meals.
FRIDAY - April 17, 2020
1.) Read a total of 30 minutes a day. 10 minutes of this can be listening to your parents or sibling read to you!
2.) Ask a family member to give you the spelling test on the spelling test paper.
3.)Finish all work that you were unable to finish during the week and submit on Google Classroom.
4.) Pray the Meal Prayer with your family before meals.
